I enjoy blogging and I always try to keep up with the latest gaming news over all platforms and the industry in general. I'll occasional post a news story on my website to keep up my blogging skills.
My website is always updating, some of these updates can be fairly small and insignificant but I find it important to keep a log on these errors and how they were fixed
Want to know what I'm currently working on? My website has most of the projects I am/have been working on including some of the more intresting projects from my work place.
In this "how-to" session we are going to look how to setup ATI's new Bezel Compensation feature for multiple monitors, you can read more about bezel management and what it is about here. Before we begin make sure you have ATI's latest Catalyst Driver 10.3, without this installed you will not see any options for Bezel Management. You will also have to have a multiple monitor setup to take advantage of this feature, preferably and Eyefinity setup. Right on to the tutorial, just follow these simple steps:
I was going to write a tutorial on how ATI's new bezel compensation feature works but I've just found this great video which covers almost everything you need to know courtesy of Widescreen Gaming Forum. Check out the above video and I will hopefully have some tutorials and explanations of bezel management by the weekend for my ATI Eyefinity section on the website. Written is always better, eh?
The latest version of ATI Drivers and Catalyst Software update 10.3 preview has been leaked onto the interwebs and I'm going to take a risk to check them out for you guys. I'm mainly trying these drivers out so soon as I would love to finally have bezel management for Eyefinity game resolutions, also I haven't upgraded my drivers in a while (9.12) so I might see a fair performance gain. Continue reading to see how it all goes down:
Whoa forgot about logging down the changes I have made to my website, here is all the stuff I can remember over the past 4 months of tweaks and changes:
Added ATI Eyefinity Section
Corrected some huge articles for displaying wrongly in certain places
Changed the MP3 player back to the original one
Removed GDGT Gadget as I never used it and it was a bit of a mess tbh
Added plenty of new articles about my triple screen experiences
Slowly adding games to my gaming history/influential games (Shenmue soon I hope)
Using a new backend editor which will hopefully allow adding articles to become easier
Added some custom CSS views for my modules (took me a while to get right)
I did have custom snow over the Christmas period which shall return next year
Cleaned up some graphics
Re-arranged some ftp folders and links
Nearly got through my backlog of "need to do" articles
Well that will do it for now, I'll see you in 4 months... hehe.
Had a few requests for some more backgrounds and I found these images on my old backup, I don't actually play Aion so all these are from the beta event. Enjoy:
A good 4-5 months ago my Logitech G25 Racing wheel started to produce a burning smell after 30 minutes or so of use, I thought nothing about this and just kept using my wheel as normal. Another month or 2 after that the smell became strong and would occur after 10 minutes of use so I knew this was getting worse but I was baring in mind that the wheel was already 20 months old. I was maybe thinking about contacting Logitech support as the G25 comes with a 2 year warranty but I didn't really want to go through the hassle of trying to find a box etc for returning my wheel so I forget about it. Well my H-Shifter lost reverse so I tried to re-install the wheel and everything from my end but the button was totally unresponsive which left me no choice in contacting Logitechs support.
Upon loading up Left 4 Dead after setting up Eyefinity it will auto adjust to the higher resolution and aspect ratio with all the menus working correctly, but this is where the good times end. When you load one of the campaigns you will realise the first issue, the gigantic crosshair! Now this isn't t much of an issue as you can still accrately aim without having to adjust your play style and there is a way to shrink it if you don't mind losing the dynamic animation, but there is another UI problem, a much more serious one which I will get onto later. To quickly fix your crosshair so it will be a more usable size (as seen in the below picture) just type this simple command into console "cl_crosshair_dynamic 0", this will give you a much smaller crosshair minus the dynamic movements of recoil, better than nothing I suppose.
Well I think we all know Crysis is the most demanding consumer PC game to date and probably the perfect candidate to test ATI's Eyefinity technology to see how well it scales and performs. Upon first loading up Crysis it displayed as 3 separate screens due to my old resolution settings, a quick visit to the options I was able to choose the resolution 5760x1080 without any tweaking needed. It quickly display my new resolution the the main menu sticking to the centre screen and everything keeping it's correct proportion, but as soon as I loaded my previous save game I came across my first issue:
When playing the demo of Forza 3 I always wanted to know if you could adjust the cockpit view to allow you to see more of the car as I felt my face was constantly squashed to the windscreen. After snooping around a bit I've managed to figure out a random fix which allows you to zoom out slightly so you can view the whole cockpit as seen in the above picture. Here is how you do it:
At the main menu choose "Forza 3 Motorspot" then "My Profile" and scroll down to "multiscreen setup (yes even though you only have 1 screen)
Now change your settings as followed:
Multiscreen: On
Mode: Host
Channel: 0
View: Center
Degrees Hidden: 0
Degrees between screens: 60-80 (whatever you prefer)
This will restart your Xbox and you should have a much better FOV (Field of View)
With this enabled you are not allowed to look around your cockpit using the right thumb-stick but you can still check your sides and rear, this doesn't matter if you are using a wheel as you won't have a right thumb stick. Happy Racing!
