Upon loading up Left 4 Dead after setting up Eyefinity it will auto adjust to the higher resolution and aspect ratio with all the menus working correctly, but this is where the good times end. When you load one of the campaigns you will realise the first issue, the gigantic crosshair! Now this isn't t much of an issue as you can still accrately aim without having to adjust your play style, but there is another UI problem, a much more serious one. |

Well I think we all know Crysis is the most demanding consumer PC game to date and probably the perfect candidate to test ATI's Eyefinity technology to see how well it scales and performs. Upon first loading up Crysis it displayed as 3 separate screens due to my old resolution settings, a quick visit to the options I was able to choose the resolution 5760x1080 without any tweaking needed. It quickly display my new resolution the the main menu sticking to the centre screen and everything keeping it's correct proportion, but as soon as I loaded my previous save game I came across my first issue: |

When playing the demo of Forza 3 I always wanted to know if you could adjust the cockpit view to allow you to see more of the car as I felt my face was constantly squashed to the windscreen. After snooping around a bit I've managed to figure out a random fix which allows you to zoom out slightly so you can view the whole cockpit as seen in the above picture. Here is how you do it: - At the main menu choose "Forza 3 Motorspot" then "My Profile" and scroll down to "multiscreen setup (yes even though you only have 1 screen)
- Now change your settings as followed:
- Multiscreen: On
- Mode: Host
- Channel: 0
- View: Center
- Degrees Hidden: 0
- Degrees between screens: 60-80 (whatever you prefer)
- This will restart your Xbox and you should have a much better FOV (Field of View)
With this enabled you are not allowed to look around your cockpit using the right thumb-stick but you can still check your sides and rear, this doesn't matter if you are using a wheel as you won't have a right thumb stick. Happy Racing! |

There has already been a fair few modifications for EA's latest Need for Speed title considering the game has been out for less than a month. The biggest issue trying to be address is the car handling physics which are good fun but not realistic enough for hardcore sim fans. I'll give you the low down on the current top Mods for NFS: Shift along with where to get them, so keep reading to find out more: |

Well, I've got a treat for everyone today! After searching around to find some proper settings for the Logitech G25 to use with Need For Speed: Shift I found a helpful chap "juls" who has made a some custom control settings. The simple xml file complete changes how the game feels, you have more control over the car, less over steer and amazing Force Feedback! Want Shift to feel like a simulator? If so, follow these simple steps: |

My favorite band of all time finally features in a video game! Activision have just announced that Daft Punk will be featured in DJ Hero as playable characters and bring 11 remixes to the game. There is plenty of variety in the mixes so check out the read link to find out what 8 or the 11 remixes are, plus check out the trailer above for pure awesomeness: |

Need for Speed: Shift has full compatibility with the Logitech G25+G27 with combined pedal or separate pedal configurations. Slightly Mad Studios in London have kindly setup some default configurations for some top-end steering wheels, just go into Options > Control Settings and change your control device option to choose whatever wheel you are using. I choose Logitech G25 with separate pedals and each control worked perfectly including the H-Shifter. I found the force feedback to be a little weird but you can change all of settings including dead zones under advanced controls in the options, it's a shame this isn't accessible from the in-game options. You will probably spend a fair amount of time tweaking the controls to suit your driving style which can become a bit tedious with you having to quit out of the race every time a setting needs changing. The overall experience is good and is much more enjoyable than using a standard Xbox controller or keyboard even though some tweaking is involved. |

For years EA has been trying to improve the Need for Speed franchise to keep up with the likes of Grid, Dirt, Burnout and Forza. EA's past few titles haven't fared too well with reviews and gamers alike due to the over the top nature of the games. Along with the rushed titles by the same developer make for pretty much the same game with a fresh lick of paint every year. Now here comes Need for Speed: Shift, this time by a new developer who had already been working on the title two years prior to the demise of the old NFS developers. The PC GTR developers set about making a new style of Need for Speed which would relate to a more mature audience and satisfy both simulator plus arcade fans. Keep reading my review were I cover each category of the game (gameplay, graphics, sound, etc): |

It's been a while since I last updated everyone on my arcade cabinet project, so here is a little taste of what I have done. Well to be honest not much has been done, here is a checklist of the changes though: - Added a temp marquee to check scale and backlighting
- Added a lamp behind the marquee for a glowing effect
- Added another 40GB hard drive (not fully working yet)
- Added 1Gb of ram now totaling 1.75GB
- Re-cabled the back of the unit to make everything more accessible.
The machine is still working great and especially since I have added the extra 1GB of ram Model 2 flies. I still need to sort out a front-end system for the machine but I can't find one that is simple and easy to use but yet has some graphical appeal to it. Check out another picture after the bump: |
