Inside the beast of a pc

Here lies one of my new projects... That's right I want to make myself a retro PC to play some of my older games such as Theme Hospital and Duke Nukem 3D. Not much has happened to the machine yet and I'm having troubles getting it to display anything but I haven't been able to try the graphics card in it yet (only an old ATI one which I think is broke) as I haven't got the right power cable for it yet. I need to do some searching around my house trying to find the elusive cable then hopefully it will be plain sailing. There isn't much inside the rig as of yet as I need to find my spare hard drives etc also I have no idea what this machine is going to become. If it's just going to be a retro PC for my old games or if it's going to end up becoming an arcade machine. Well here's the current spec:

It's one tasty machine

  • Intel Pentium P4 3.0GHz HT
  • 1GB Ram
  • Random Asus motherboard
  • 40GB Hard Drive
  • Another 40GB hard drive (maybe)
  • 500Watt Powerpack
  • GeCube X1950XT 256mb Graphics card (AGP)

Well that's it for now but I will post some updates once I've added that hard drive and If the graphics card will actually work. The computer isn't actually that old and is fairly good specs, but it hasn't got any other uses so I'm going to hopefully be able to run my games on the rig with some limitations. I will probably chuck Windows XP on it and emulate some of the older operating systems using Virtual PC if needed.

Good Luck me!
