My Retro PC is alive!!! I've brought it back from the dead (just about) with a few alterations and a few problems that need fixing. Okay so I'm not going to use the insane ATI X1950XT as I think it will overpower a fair amount of the DOS games plus it uses a fair amount of juice to power it. So I'm going to go with my good old classic ATI Radeon 9200 AGP to keep the machine running, it's working fine so fare without any slow down with anything I have tested (considering these games are made for 486s no wonder!) but I've still got some problems. First problem is the terrible quality of the picture! Urg, my old digital camera from 5 years ago+ really can't take a picture and I apologies for that, now onto the first problem with the PC and that's the dodgy AGP slot. I'm not sure what is causing it but sometimes I keep getting "No Signal" I remove the graphics card chuck it back in and it's fine but its usually when I've added something new into the PC. Second problem is the sound, I've got it working on the front port of the case but that has been broken for years and you have to keep wiggling the jack to get any sound. I have tried adding a sound car but then I had the problem of getting "no signal" removed everything and chucked it all back in now I can see what I'm doing but the PC has picked up the sound card. So Still a fair amount of stuff to be fixed but I'm impressed that its working with XP and my good old DOS games, next up virtual machine!
