I remember getting my Sega Saturn at Christmas knowing that I would finally be able to play arcade games at home, the biggest title I was looking forward to was of course Sega Rally. I spent many of hours on the Sega Rally arcade machine when I would go visit my grandmother in South Wales (close to beaches) dreaming that one day I would be able to play a game with these kind of graphics at home for free. More about that in my gaming history section, but now let's focus on Sega Rally rather than arcade dreaming home living. I was still fairly young when Sega Rally came out so I still found it challenging when trying to complete the 4 courses, this made for hours of play much of which was spent on the easiest desert track. My brother had the advance of 4 years on me so whenever we would play multiplayer I would get owned which would then end up me insisting we would play buses. Yep... Sega Rally buses... It actually used to be fun back then and really made you admire the graphics (this was my first 3D gaming console) and the technology behind the Sega Saturn. As years went by I finally started to get the hang of Sega Rally and spent a good amount of time trying to set the fastest laps against my brother. He would still always beat me but at least I was starting to catch up and cause a wee bit of competition for my brother. He began to get really good at the game causing for some insane laptimes, if my memory is right (which it never usually is) he used to get around 52 seconds on the desert track. Sega Rally still holds a place in my heart as one of the most easiest pick up and play good-fun titles of my gaming career and still to this day if I see an Sega Rally arcade machine I'm forced to have a go.
