mame runing Sega Rally

It's been a while since I last updated everyone on my arcade cabinet project, so here is a little taste of what I have done. Well to be honest not much has been done, here is a checklist of the changes though:
  1. Added a temp marquee to check scale and backlighting
  2. Added a lamp behind the marquee for a glowing effect
  3. Added another 40GB hard drive (not fully working yet)
  4. Added 1Gb of ram now totaling 1.75GB
  5. Re-cabled the back of the unit to make everything more accessible.
The machine is still working great and especially since I have added the extra 1GB of ram Model 2 flies. I still need to sort out a front-end system for the machine but I can't find one that is simple and easy to use but yet has some graphical appeal to it. Check out another picture after the bump:

Here is how to enable bezel management on ATI Eyfinity with CCC 10.3

The latest version of ATI Drivers and Catalyst Software update 10.3 preview has been leaked onto the interwebs and I'm going to take a risk to check them out for you guys. I'm mainly trying these drivers out so soon as I would love to finally have bezel management for Eyefinity game resolutions, also I haven't upgraded my drivers in a while (9.12) so I might see a fair performance gain. Continue reading to see how it all goes down:

Game Journey - Shenmue Edition Part 1
Written by Maxi

22 August - Day 4 Progress - After much searching I finally found the sailors and got the information I needed, which was to search for someone with glasses and a leather jacket. Yay more searching.

After visiting the jazz bar and getting owned by some sailor wannabes at a game of pool I was unsure where to find the other bar I was suggested. After a night of hunting I couldn't find it as it wasn't on the map and no one was giving me any more information, I finally found it tucked down a stair way opposite the motorbike shop. Now that I had to wait for a few until 7 pm so I needed to find something to do, after a little running around I found a slot house! I never knew that Shenmue 1 had a slot house so I had to give it go and went about losing 1500 yen and just missed out on a 4000 yen win due to me not betting enough. Finding the game much more enjoyable already so bring on the next play session.

More Game Journey Shenmue Edition coming soon..

Website Update #9
Written by Maxi
Friday, 07 May 2010 13:00

Just a brief update as I've been messing around with the front page template CSS which has been such a pain for such a little change! Parts of the front page weren't in-line together along with extra padding and borders which I didn't think was needed, so I went about trying to edit only certain parts of the CSS without destroy the rest of the website. After plenty of trail and error and 4 different edited CSS style sheets I managed to get the result I was looking for.

Before:

Website Original layout

After:

Website Updated layout

I also added some extra borders to the left column to split the main content and navigation options to give a cleaner look. Finally I updated the website to the latest version of Joomla which caused a few issues but nothing that couldn't be sorted out easily enough.

Mame Arcade Cabinet Marquee in Photoshop

Now on to the physical cabinet itself, there has been a fair few changes but nothing dramatic thus far. This most visual improvement has to be in the above image, the marquee has finally been custom made after many of moons with the generic defender logo. To make this awesome marquee (haha) I just downloaded various video game sprites from the interwebs and make a collage of game characters in Photoshop, added some text with some fancy lines and I'm done. Keep reading for a download link to the Photoshop file.
