In this "how-to" session we are going to look how to setup ATI's new Bezel Compensation feature for multiple monitors, you can read more about bezel management and what it is about here. Before we begin make sure you have ATI's latest Catalyst Driver 10.3, without this installed you will not see any options for Bezel Management. You will also have to have a multiple monitor setup to take advantage of this feature, preferably and Eyefinity setup. Right on to the tutorial, just follow these simple steps:

Step 1

Open up ATI Catalyst manager by double clicking the tray icon in your start bar, once that loads up make sure you select "Desktop Properties" from the Graphics drop-down menu. Still lost? See the image below:

Step 2

If you have used multiple displays including Eyefinity setups with ATI Catalyst manager then this should all be very familar. We need to create a group of monitors before we can use bezel compensation, so go about creating a group by clicking the little downward triangle in the desktop and following the on screen instructions which will be different depending on how many screens you have. My setup is a 3x1 Eyefinity group so it may look slightly different to yours.

Step 3

With the group created we will now have an extra option in the triangle drop-down menu for bezel compensation, so go ahead a click on that to open a full screen application to help adjust your bezel management. See the image below on where to find ATI's new option:

Step 4

Now that ATI's application has opened up it's fairly simple to get your desired settings. You will notice that your triangle might be off by a fair bit, this is how mine was sized the first time I used Bezel Compensation:

As the above image shows my bezel is blocking a good amount of the triangle from showing so the top isn't in-line with each monitor. To fix this just use the controls provided in your centre screen to move the triangle either left or right depending on how your bezel is affecting your view.

Finished lining up the triangle? Good stuff! Now go ahead and click on the little green "switch" button which will try to automatically adjust your other monitor and prompt you if you are happy with the results or not.

If you don't like the way that Bezel Compensation has tried to auto correct your other monitor(s) then just click no and manually configure it for yourself the same way as you did with your previous screen. Resulting in this:

Click the green tick and your bezel compensation should be complete. For the settings to appear make sure you select your new screen resolution settings, for each support resolution you should have a slightly higher one with maybe an extra 200 pixels (e.g. 5760 now = 5900). So there you go, a simple overview on how to setup ATI's Bezel Compensation using ATI Catalyst 10.3 on 5XXX series graphics cards. Hope this little tutorial helps some people out there and if not be sure to contact me and I might be able to help you out, good luck and happy gaming!
