I'm following a DVD tutorial by Digital Tutors about basic modelling in Maya, here is what I've done so far. With this being a DVD tutorial it's taken some time just to create the basic outline as I have been watching each segment of the DVD twice, once without doing anything then another time while modeling. I think this is pretty essential in these sort of cases as if you just copy the video you won't actually learn anything. I started this project just after the Christmas holidays but haven't been able to go back to it since as I've been busy with this website and the website I created for the school I work for in most of my free time (and playing games). But I am hoping to get back into the project on the weekend as I was really impressed with what I have created over such a short period of time and I'm already feeling fairly confident in Maya. So here's what I've currently created: I know it doesn't look like much but this is a learning process so it's going to take me a while to do anything. I've learned how to create multiple objects based on one model being the master and the rest of the objects seeing that as a parent. I've also done some basic line modeling where I basically drew the line I wanted and added extra points in my more detailed areas. Yet again not much to update you on but this is the final thing I am aiming for and I hope to do so in the coming weeks.
