One of my first long lost projects I created many years ago in Hammer, check out the full story. This has to be one of my earliest projects and its one that I put plenty of time into trying to learn how to use CS: Sources editor Hammer properly. It’s been a while since I've looked back on this but since making my website I thought it was only write to add some of my "missing in action" projects and this is one I loved but got lost. Let me set the background, cs_miami was my favorite map for Counter-Strike on the Xbox where I spent many of hours killing peeps online. I was trying to think of ideas for a map and I thought that CS: Source hasn't got a version of cs_miami, this is where the project was born. I gathered a bit of information and screenshots from the Xbox version as template ideas with me knowing some things would have to change to keep with the new flow of CS: Source. After a lot of hours spent learning how to make rounded corners and texturing this is what I managed: Before the map was around 70% done with basic texturing but it had almost complete geometry. The only problem is that I have lost the file as it’s been years since I last touched the project but I was able to find an older file which only has the entrance 70% done and part of the inside done with a basic layout. Its shame to have lost the up to date file as I spent many hours working on it and learnt a lot from it, but ah well at least I haven't lost everything. As for the project it’s kind of lost and I'm not sure if I will return to it or not. Hopefully I can come back to it one day as I did really enjoy making this map. Until then... |
